Reliable force testing on miniature electrical terminals smaller than 2mm does not currently exist – until now. Recently, SensorData Technologies was tasked with providing a solution for measuring forces on electrical terminal contact pins. These terminals are typically below 1.5mm in size or smaller, and current measuring equipment doesn’t allow for testing that small. Measuring contact normal forces is difficult due to the miniaturization and complexity of these terminals. These parameters are critical in order to maintain stamping quality-control for terminals this small.

SensorData Technologies rose to the occasion and was able to design and deliver an easy to use, completely adaptable system that accurately measures normal contact force – repeatedly – with an accuracy of (+ / – 0.10 ) on terminals from .5mm up to 2.8 mm.
